Railway Schedule Alert: Passenger Trains Suspended and Express Services Diverted From August 31

Rail passengers travelling through parts of the Varanasi railway division should check their train status carefully before leaving for the station, as track-related work is set to affect several services between August 31 and September 4. Some passenger trains will remain cancelled on specified dates, while a number of long-distance express trains will operate through diverted routes.

The temporary changes are connected to railway infrastructure work on the Gorakhpur Cantt-Paniyahwa section. Work is being carried out between Gorakhpur Cantt and Unaula, requiring the Railways to regulate train movement through the affected stretch.

The disruption could particularly affect daily commuters who depend on passenger trains for work, education and short-distance journeys. Long-distance travellers may also experience changes because several express services have been included in the diversion plan.

Why Are Train Services Being Changed?

The changes have been planned because of railway track work between Gorakhpur Cantt and Unaula on the Gorakhpur Cantt-Paniyahwa section.

Infrastructure and track-related work can require railway authorities to temporarily restrict regular train movement for operational and safety reasons.

As a result, some local passenger services will not operate during the affected period. Instead of cancelling several long-distance trains, authorities have decided to run a number of express services through alternative routes.

The changes are expected to remain relevant between August 31 and September 4, although the exact dates differ from one train to another.
