Tata Power commissions 300 MW solar project in Karnataka; renewable portfolio hits 12 GW
Tata power renewable energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of tata power, on Thursday announced the commissioning of its 300 MW solar power project for the solar energy corporation of India (SECI) in Koppal district of Karnataka.
According to a company statement, TP Saurya, a wholly owned subsidiary of TPREL, served as the project development company.
The solar facility is expected to produce approximately 810 million units (MUs) of renewable electricity annually once fully operational. It is also projected to prevent around 103,820 tonnes of carbon emissions every year, contributing to India's efforts to expand clean energy generation and reduce its carbon footprint, according to news agency PTI.

The electricity generated by the project will be supplied to the solar energy corporation of India (SECI).
Around 16 women professionals, representing nearly 40 per cent of the workforce at the project site, played important roles in its execution. Their responsibilities included positions such as site managers and site engineers, covering technical operations, engineering activities and team management.
The company said their involvement reflects the increasing participation of women in technical and leadership roles across India's renewable energy industry.
With the commissioning of the Koppal facility, TPREL's total renewable energy utility-scale portfolio has increased to 12 GW.
Of this capacity, approximately 7.2 GW is operational, comprising 5.8 GW of solar power and 1.3 GW of wind energy. Another 4.9 GW of capacity is currently at different stages of implementation.
