Veteran actor Nana Patekar dies at 75 in Goa
Veteran actor Nana Patekar died at the age of 75 in Goa.
An official from Manipal hospital, Goa, confirmed that Patekar was found unconscious at his Dona Paula residence and was declared brought dead on arrival at the hospital.
The actor was celebrated for his impactful roles in Hindi and Marathi cinema spanning more than four decades.
Born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, he was known for his intense performances and ability to portray complex characters.
He debuted in Hindi cinema with the 1978 film Gaman and rose to prominence with Salaam Bombay! and Parinda.
His powerful roles in movies like Angaar, Tirangaa, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, and Raajneeti earned him critical acclaim.
In addition to acting, he directed Prahaar: The Final Attack in 1991 and was recognised for his comic role as Uday Shetty in the Welcome series.
Other notable films include Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Deewangee, Bhoot, Welcome Back, Natsamrat, and The Vaccine War.
Nana Patekar was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013 and won three National Film Awards during his career.
He was also known for his social activism, supporting farmers and families affected by agrarian challenges.
Despite his fame, Patekar maintained a private personal life until his passing.
