3 pose as cops, gang-rape Delhi teen near Kalkaji Mandir
NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men who posed as policemen at a park near Kalkaji Mandir , police said on Monday.
According to the complaint, the girl, a Delhi resident, had gone to Kalkaji Mandir with her 17-year-old male friend around 7pm. After offering prayers, the two went to a park near the temple at around 7.30pm.
Police said the three accused, aged between 25 and 30 years, allegedly approached the teenagers and claimed to be policemen. They allegedly threatened the two before sexually assaulting the girl.
A PCR call about the alleged incident at around 8.45pm prompted a police team to reach the park, located between Kalkaji Mandir and the ISKCON Temple.
The girl was taken for a medical examination, while police recorded her statement. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and began scanning CCTV footage from the park and surrounding areas to identify the accused and establish the sequence of events.
One of the accused was later apprehended after a brief exchange of fire with police, officials said. Delhi Police are conducting further investigation, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the other accused.
Further legal action is being taken based on the girl's statement, police said, adding that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
