NEW DELHI: Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Wednesday said the severe turbulence encountered by an Air India Phuket-Delhi flight lasted around five minutes, during which several crew members sustained spinal injuries but continued to assist passengers until the aircraft landed safely in the national capital.

Speaking to reporters, Naidu said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a detailed investigation into the incident. The aircraft was isolated immediately after landing, and the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder have been taken into the regulator's custody.
