60-acre venue, 2k buses: BJP goes all out for Shah's Jalandhar rally
Jalandhar : Punjab BJP is going all out to make Union home minister Amit Shah ’s rally at Jalandhar on Sept 30 a mega event, arranging a 60-acre venue next to the highway linking Jalandhar and Phagwara and over 2,000 buses to transport workers and supporters of the party.
On Wednesday, local BJP functionaries performed an Ardas and a Bhumi Pujan at the venue.
Apart from the highway, the venue is approachable by two other roads. “We are looking for a few acres more. Close to 45 acres of the land would be earmarked for parking 2,000- 2,500 buses,” said Jalandhar district BJP president Ashok Sareen .
This would be Shah’s second visit to address a big rally, after the ‘badlav rally’ held at Moga on March 14.
Four anti-drug processions being taken out by BJP in the state would also finish at the rally.
At the Moga rally, Shah had indicated that BJP would go alone in 2027, as he said he was confident that BJP would form govt in Punjab. “It is the beginning of BJP’s campaign,” he had said.
He had also claimed that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP could build a drug-free and development-oriented Punjab. “BJP would make Punjab drug-free within two years of forming govt in the state,” Shah had said.
