AAP takes Punjab govt 'report card' to every household in statewide outreach
Patiala: Punjab minister and AAP state president Aman Arora on Sept 21 said party workers were taking the Punjab govt’s report card to every household as part of a statewide door-to-door campaign and membership drive .
Interacting with people in Sunam , Arora said workers and volunteers were contacting residents directly and outlining the work undertaken by chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann ’s govt over the past four-and-a-half years.
The campaign, launched by Mann, Punjab affairs in charge Manish Sisodia and the party leadership, includes distribution of a pamphlet detailing initiatives in electricity, healthcare, education, women’s welfare and other sectors, along with the savings AAP claims these provide to families.
Arora said reducing families’ daily expenses was a key govt priority. He said the provision of 300 units of free electricity a month had relieved many domestic consumers of electricity bills, while expanded govt healthcare and education facilities were intended to reduce spending on treatment and children’s education.
Under the Mukh Mantri Mavan-Dhian Satkar Yojana , eligible Scheduled Caste women receive Rs 1,500 a month, while eligible women from other categories receive Rs 1,000, he said. Many women had already received financial assistance under the scheme, he added.
According to an assessment cited by AAP, an average Punjab family receives annual benefits of up to approximately Rs 1.8 lakh through free electricity, healthcare, education, financial assistance for women and other welfare initiatives. Arora urged people to calculate their household savings from these facilities.
He said the Punjab govt had also taken measures to conserve natural resources, particularly water, by expanding canal-water supply to farmers, reducing dependence on groundwater and promoting efficient use of available resources.
Arora asked people to compare the present govt’s work, facilities and impact on household expenses with the record of previous govts.
Rejecting opposition parties’ allegations, he accused them of making misleading statements to divert attention from govt work. He said AAP would continue focusing its campaign on its record and public facilities.
Party workers will visit every village, ward and household to present the report card and seek residents’ views, Arora said, adding that direct public dialogue and accountability were central to AAP’s politics.
