Alva's Pragati 2026: Free job fair scheduled for August 7 and 8 in Moodubidire

Moodubidire: The 16th edition of Alva's Pragati 2026, one of India's largest free job fairs, will begin at 9.30 am on August 7 at Alva's Education Foundation, Vidyagiri, Moodubidire.

Addressing a press conference, Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva's Education Foundation, said the inaugural function will be held at Dr V S Acharya Auditorium. Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader will inaugurate the job fair, while MP Capt Brijesh Chowta will attend as the chief guest. Public representatives from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district will participate as guests of honour, and MLA Umanath A Kotian will preside over the event.

Stage named in memory of A K Mahesh Shek

Dr Alva said this year's stage has been named in memory of late A K Mahesh Shek, recognising his significant contribution to the planning, organisation and successful conduct of the employment fair over the years.

Awards for achievers

During the event, five achievers from industry and entrepreneurship will be honoured for their contributions to employment generation and social service. The awardees are:

  • K N Janardhan, Managing Director, SIRI Gramodyoga Samsthe, Mathrushree Industrial Park, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala
  • Dr K Prakash Shetty, Founder and Chairman, MRG Group
  • Kusumodara D Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Bhavani Group
  • Vincent Cutinha, Managing Director, ProVIT Foods Pvt Ltd
  • Mohammed Ashfaq, Co-founder, Expertise Contracting Company
More than 26,300 job openings

Over 350 reputed companies from India and abroad are participating in this year's job fair, offering more than 26,300 job opportunities across sectors including IT, ITES, manufacturing, banking, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, retail, media and education.
