The incident occurred under the Vyalikaval police station limits when five family members, including the woman, her husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law, arrived at a courier office carrying a large package. When staff grew suspicious and asked about the contents, the family reportedly refused to disclose what was inside.

Concerned by their behaviour, the employees opened the sack, only to discover the elderly man packed inside. The shocking discovery left staff alarmed, especially as the man appeared visibly distressed and was struggling to breathe.

According to the family, the act was staged to create a reel highlighting travel difficulties during the festive season, particularly around Ugadi and Ramzan, when bus tickets are often unavailable. They claimed the idea was to show that “couriering a person” was the only option left for travel.

Despite being caught, the family allegedly argued with the courier staff, insisting that the parcel be accepted since they had gone through the effort of bringing it there. The situation escalated, prompting the employees to alert the police.

Police intervened and took the family to the station. Officials later said the group recorded an apology video, admitting their actions were irresponsible. They were subsequently let off with a stern warning and advised not to attempt such dangerous stunts again.

The incident has sparked concern over the lengths people are willing to go for social media attention, raising questions about safety and accountability in the race for viral content.
