BJP Slams Karnataka Government over Viral Namaz Video at Bengaluru Airport
A video showing a group of people offering namaz at Terminal 2 of Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has gone viral, triggering a political storm in Karnataka. In the clip, security personnel can be seen standing nearby as the prayers take place inside the high-security terminal.
The BJP has demanded an explanation from the Congress-led state government. Party spokesperson Vijay Prasad questioned whether the individuals had obtained prior permission for the act, calling it “a serious breach of airport protocol.”
Taking to X, Prasad tagged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Priyank Kharge, asking, How is this even allowed inside the T2 Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport? Hon’ble chief minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Priyank Kharge do you approve of this?”
“Did these individuals obtain prior permission to offer Namaz in a high-security airport zone?” Prasad added.
He also accused the government of double standards, alleging that while it places curbs on RSS marches even after due permission, it overlooks religious activities in sensitive zones. “Why is it that the government objects when the RSS conducts Patha Sanchalana (route march) after obtaining due permission from the concerned authorities, but turns a blind eye to such activities in a restricted public area?” he said.
The BJP leader further raised security concerns, calling for an investigation into how the prayers were permitted within such a restricted area.
As of now, the Karnataka government has not issued an official response, leaving the issue to continue stirring debate both online and in political circles.
