The woman, her face veiled with a dupatta, entered the shop posing as a regular customer. In a sudden move, she hurled chilli powder toward the shopkeeper’s eyes, hoping to blind him and snatch the jewellery. But what happened next wasn’t part of her plan.

The alert shopkeeper reacted instantly, dodged the attack, grabbed the woman, and delivered a flurry of slaps around 17 in just a few seconds before dragging her out of the store. The would-be thief managed to escape before police reached the spot, leaving without stealing a thing.

The CCTV footage, now viral, has triggered a wave of reactions online. Many netizens hailed the shopkeeper’s courage, with one writing, “Crime has no gender, and neither should consequences.” Another commented, “People getting instant karma is my favourite genre.”

However, not everyone agreed some felt the shopkeeper’s retaliation went too far and should have been handled differently.

Police have since reviewed the video and started an investigation, though reports say the shop owner has not lodged an official complaint. Officers are working to identify and locate the woman involved in the attempted heist.

The incident has sparked larger conversations about rising street crime, quick justice, and gender perceptions proving once again that in the age of cameras, no act, good or bad, goes unseen.
