Books purchase scam: It a grave insult to Tamil language, Kamal Haasan says
CHENNAI: MNM founder and Rajya Sabha member Kamal Haasan on Friday called the alleged procurement of substandard and fake books a “grave insult and disgrace to the Tamil language .”
Taking to social media to voice his sharp disapproval, the actor-turned-politician warned that the inclusion of such fraudulent material would cause immense long-term harm.

He noted that if readers consumed, refer to, or incorporate these texts into academic writing, speeches, and formal research, it would utterly compromise the dignity of Tamil, adding that those responsible have committed a direct betrayal of the language.
“I call on the Tamil Nadu govt to immediately withdraw these fake books from all libraries and burn them in the streets. The publishing houses that committed this fraud should be sealed. We owe a debt of gratitude to the writer Perumal Murugan for exposing this fraud,” he said.
