CRED Cancels Rs 3.25 Lakh Jackpot, Offers Rs 1K Instead Amid Technical Glitch

A CRED user’s joy turned into frustration when he won a Friday jackpot worth Rs 3.25 lakh, only to have it canceled due to what the company described as a “technical glitch.” The winner, Aviral Sangal , had won a MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max, and a TUMI bag. Initially, CRED requested his PAN details to process the tax deduction on the prize , but his excitement was cut short when the company reversed the win.

Sangal took to social media , tagging CRED’s founder, Kunal Shah , to express his disappointment. He explained that despite usually ignoring CRED jackpots, he decided to try his luck on Friday and unexpectedly won big.

“I usually don’t bother with the CRED jackpots,” Sangal shared on X (formerly Twitter). “But yesterday, I decided to give it a try and scored a jackpot worth INR 3.25 lakh. It felt unreal.”

However, he soon received a call from CRED informing him that the jackpot had been voided due to a technical issue. As compensation, the company offered him Rs 1,000 in goodwill and refunded the coins he had used to participate.

Sangal continued updating his followers, stating, “I declined their offer of 1,000 cashback and asked them to honor the prize instead. Later, they explained that around 200 users had won due to a bug, but rather than addressing the issue and rewarding those users, they canceled everything.”

In a follow-up post, he made it clear that he expects CRED to publicly acknowledge the incident and honor the jackpots for all affected users. He also hinted at potential legal action if the matter is not resolved fairly.

Sangal’s posts quickly garnered attention, with numerous users expressing support and sharing similar experiences. Some encouraged him to take legal steps against the company, while others criticized CRED for not honoring its commitments.

One user commented, “You should file a case – it will be interesting to see how the courts handle this.” Another shared their own experience, stating, “Something similar happened to me. After dozens of emails and calls, I finally received my vouchers. Stick to your claim.”

Criticism mounted as another commenter questioned, “Where are the other 200 users? If so many people were affected, why isn’t this all over social media already?”

Many users expressed their discontent, with some urging legal action against CRED for failing to fulfill its promises. The incident has sparked discussions around transparency and accountability in online contests.
