'Dad, keep your money, I'm going to my mother': Jhansi teen records final video, shoots himself dead with father's licensed pistol
JHANSI: A 19-year-old BA student allegedly died by suicide using his father’s licensed pistol at their home in the Gursarai police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district on Sunday morning.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death after recovering a video he recorded on his mobile phone shortly before the incident.
The deceased, Love Patel, was the only child of Munna Lal Patel, a retired village development officer who now works in agriculture.

Love was found lying inside a room with a gunshot wound after neighbours alerted his family on hearing a gunshot. He was rushed to the Community Health Centre in Gursarai, where doctors declared him dead.
Around 8am on Sunday, Munna Lal and his wife, Hemlata, left for the fields, leaving Love alone at home. Around two hours later, neighbours heard a gunshot and rushed to the house but found the door locked from inside.
They alerted Munna Lal, who returned and found his son lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. His licensed pistol was found nearby.
Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. A forensic team collected evidence, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
Video recovered from mobile phone
The video recorded by Love shortly before his death has become a key part of the investigation. In the recording, he reportedly addresses his father emotionally, saying he had caused him considerable distress and continued to trouble him.
He then turns the camera towards a photograph of his mother and says he is going to be with her. He also asks his father to keep the money with him and reportedly says he does not hold his friends, family members or relatives responsible for his decision.
Police are examining the recording and other evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. The reason remains unclear.
Father says son was under stress
During questioning, Munna Lal reportedly told police that Love often remained under stress and had difficulty sleeping at night. He said his son sometimes took medication to help him sleep. Police are examining these details, but no cause has been established.
Love’s mother, Sangeeta Patel, died by suicide after setting herself on fire in 2009. Love had been living with his father since her death. According to the family, Munna Lal had married Hemlata before marrying Sangeeta, with whom he had Love.
Police investigation underway
Garotha Circle Officer Piyush Kumar Pandey said Love was a resident of Singar village and was pursuing a BA degree.
According to the officer, preliminary information indicates that Love locked himself inside a room and shot himself with his father’s licensed pistol. His family took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have questioned Munna Lal, while the forensic team has examined the scene and collected evidence. Investigators are also analysing the mobile phone recording and recording statements from family members to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
