Delhi Government Unveils Safety-Focused Measures Across Disaster Response, Education and Public Health
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta outlined a set of key initiatives focused on strengthening public safety, improving civic infrastructure, and enhancing social welfare across the national capital. She said the government's priorities are centered on building a safer, stronger, and more secure Delhi through targeted interventions in disaster management, education, healthcare, and public safety.
Among the major announcements, Gupta said the process has been initiated to establish Delhi's first fully equipped State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The dedicated force is expected to strengthen the city's disaster preparedness and improve emergency response capabilities during natural and man-made emergencies.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government's commitment to supporting students by developing hostel facilities, with the first phase aimed at providing accommodation for 10,000 students. The initiative seeks to improve access to safe and affordable housing for students pursuing higher education in the capital.
Emphasizing the government's focus on the safety of women and children, Gupta said stronger safeguards and protective measures are being implemented to create a more secure environment. She also announced that eligible girls will receive free HPV vaccination, a step aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and reducing the risk of cervical cancer.
In addition, the government plans to extend greater support to young athletes by strengthening sports-related initiatives and opportunities. Gupta also stated that authorities will take strict action against unsafe and hazardous structures, reinforcing public safety through stronger enforcement and compliance measures.
