Don't teach puppies how to sit as trainer prefers easier command

A dog trainer is urging owners of puppies to think twice before teaching the dog how to sit, as they claim there are 'better' and easier commands you should start with.

If you're planning on getting a dog, or maybe you've just gotten a puppyto add to your family, it's important to start training them as soon as you can. Training a dog is crucial for safety, preventing behavioural problems, and strengthening the human-animal bond by teaching life skills, ensuring control in dangerous situations (like recall and stay), promoting mental stimulation, and helping them become well-behaved companions who can safely enjoy more of the world with you.

However, if you're an excited new dog owner, it can be easy to just jump into the commands you already know are common, such as sit. But one dog trainer named Kim Paciotti from Empowered Puppy Program, has now urged dog owners to think twice before starting to teach this command, as it can be too advance for young puppies to understand what to do.

  • Man who died 'worst death imaginable' made horrifying noise with his dying breaths

Instead she urged people to start with a similar command to teach your pup, as it will be a good foundation for several other commands in the future.
