From Nepal to Jodhpur: 2 Lawrence gang shooters, carrying Rs 5 lakh reward each, arrested during hotel check-in
JODHPUR: Rajasthan Police ’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in coordination with Jodhpur Police , arrested two alleged sharpshooters linked to the Lawrence-Arzoo Bishnoi gang while they were checking into a hotel in Jodhpur, officials said.
The accused, identified as Rajinder Singh alias Billa and Jaskaran alias Katta alias Sunny, both residents of Fazilka district in Punjab, were allegedly staying under fake identities and using a fake Aadhaar card, AGTF additional director general of police Dinesh MN said.
The two were carrying weapons and opium when they were arrested, police said.
A case has been registered and the Jodhpur commissionerate is investigating further, news agency PTI reported.
The arrests came after the AGTF tracked the two for several days across multiple locations.
According to police, the suspects had recently returned to India from Nepal and were being tracked after they left the country.
The duo allegedly travelled through Gorakhpur, Kashi, Indore and Sirohi before reaching Jodhpur. They stayed in Sirohi for a day before moving to Jodhpur three to four days ago, where the AGTF alerted the local police and mounted a joint operation.
An AGTF team led by additional SP Siddhant Sharma, along with Jodhpur Police, caught the two during hotel check-in. Police subsequently questioned them, verified their identities and arrested them.
Both accused allegedly carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh each, police said, PTI reported.
According to the AGTF, the two are wanted in connection with murders in Punjab.
Police said they were allegedly involved in the killing of Sahil Sen at his office in April last year and the broad-daylight murder of cloth merchant Sanjay Verma at the Wear Well showroom in Abohar in July.
After the killings, the accused allegedly fled to Nepal. The AGTF had been tracking gang-linked shooters who could potentially be used to carry out crimes in Rajasthan or elsewhere, the ADG said.
The police are now probing the purpose of the accused’s stay in Jodhpur and whether they had been planning a crime in the city.
