Government bus employees to hold protest on October 7, but no bus strike

Bengaluru: The Joint Action Committee of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation employees' organisations will hold a dharna at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on October 7, demanding implementation of a pay revision for employees of the state's four road transport corporations with effect from January 1, 2024.

The committee's key demand is a salary hike of more than 15%.

It also clarified that bus services will not be affected on the day of the protest and buses will operate as usual.

The government has agreed to pay around Rs 1,792 crore in salary arrears to transport employees. So far, only Rs 620 crore has been released.

Joint Action Committee leaders Jyothi Anantha Subbarao, B Jayadevaraje Urs and H D Revappa demanded that the remaining Rs 1,172 crore be paid in a single instalment.
