Haryana clears Rs 9,700cr road push, fast-tracks Rs 2,000cr startup fund
Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday cleared a Rs 9 ,700-crore road infrastructure push and directed the time-bound rollout of the state’s proposed Rs 2 ,000-crore Startup Fund of Funds to boost connectivity and entrepreneurship.
During a meeting at the Secretariat, Saini approved development of ring roads around cities and towns with populations above one lakh and gave the go-ahead to five major bypass projects — Hisar , Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Jind and Sohna-Palwal — under a master plan aimed at easing congestion along National Highways.
The CM directed officials to formulate a policy for outer ring roads and National Highways in line with the Centre’s policy framework. A three-member committee comprising officers from the finance, public works and urban local bodies departments was constituted to work out the state’s contribution under the proposed cost-sharing arrangement with the Centre.
Among the approved projects, the nearly 11-km Narnaul City Bypass will connect to NH-148B, while an outer ring road and four-lane bypass on NH-352 will be developed around Jind. The 24-km Palwal-Sohna bypass, connecting NH-919, will be upgraded as a four-lane road.
The Hisar bypass will link Hisar-Rajgarh Road (NH-52) with the Hisar-Delhi and Hisar-Kaithal roads. The DPR for the Kurukshetra-Ladwa bypass has been prepared, with work expected to begin soon.
The govt will also develop greenfield connectivity linking the DND-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-KMP corridor and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with Jewar International Airport . The land share for the Karnal Ring Road has been deposited, while the Ambala City-Ambala Cantt ring road is under construction.
Saini also reviewed the proposed Rs 2,000-crore Haryana Startup Fund of Funds, aimed at providing capital support to startups at different stages, attracting private investment and promoting innovation. He directed officials to operationalise the fund at the earliest.
A railway underbridge on Civil Station Road in Sirsa and several link-road projects in the Mahendragarh area were also approved.
