Irish cream is often associated with Baileys, but some connoisseurs suggest another brand deserves recognition. One particular liqueur has been gaining traction online, with Irish commentators recommending it as a smoother, superior alternative - and it's currently on offer at Tesco.

Conversations on travel forums and Irish Reddit threads have directed inquisitive shoppers towards Coole Swan, a premium Irish cream crafted with simple, natural ingredients, which is now available for £20 from £26.50 at Tesco with a Clubcard. On Tripadvisor, one individual enquired about the best Irish cream to purchase, to which another responded: "Another vote for Coole Swan from me. It's been my drink of choice for about a year now."

This prompted the original person to declare: "I decided to go with Coole Swan, and I am excited to be able to try it!" On Reddit, another user stated: "I'm actually sitting beside a bottle I've bought for the gf's dad. It's great stuff!" whilst a third commented: "It's been around for ages, I'd say! I quite enjoy it."

The current deal offers shoppers an opportunity to sample the award-winning beverage for less. Unlike many Irish creams that rely on flavourings, Coole Swan claims it concentrates on just afew high-quality ingredients.

Each bottle combines single malt Irish whiskey with genuine Belgian white chocolate, fresh Irish dairy cream from the brand's own farm in County Cavan, and a hint of vanilla for balance. The outcome is a lighter, smoother liqueur with reduced sugar and a more authentic taste, according to the brand, the Mirrorreports.

The brand has also collected over 90 international awards, including notable victories at the San Francisco Wine and Spirits Awards and a 96/100 rating from Wine Enthusiast. It was even named the number one Irish cream liqueur by Tasting Table, surpassing Baileys and various other rivals.

For those seeking a gift around Mother's Day or Easter, or simply a creamy after-dinner beverage, the liqueur can be enjoyed chilled over ice, mixed into cocktails or savoured slowly on its own.

Meanwhile, another option is the Irish Mist Honey Liqueurs (£7.39, Amazon), which combines honey and spice notes, some fruity nuances and traces of vanilla. It comes in a 700ml bottle, and nearly 3,000 shoppers have given it high ratings on Amazon, with an average of 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Master of Malt also stocks the Five Farms Irish Cream Liqueur (70cl) for £28.50, reduced from £29.49. Crafted in County Cork, individual batches of fresh cream are combined with triple-distilled Irish whiskey within 48 hours of collection, sourced from five family-run farms in the area, to produce this drink, according to the site.

On the Coole Swan website, customers have given the beverage high praise, with one individual commenting: "Really enjoyed making some amazing cocktails with it! Yummy."

Another remarked: "Silky smooth and too easy to drink. Absolutely delicious!" A further reviewer stated: "Coole Swan Superior Irish cream Liqueur, as it says on the bottle. I am Irish, and this is my favourite one. I would highly recommend it."

On Trustpilot, there were some contrasting opinions, as one customer noted as part of a lengthier review: "My order arrived damaged, so I emailed Coole Swan to let them know. The response was personal, friendly and professional. Absolutely no question, a replacement was sent the next day."

Another individual commented: "It's like Baileys - but way better."
