Karnataka Legislative Council polls: Voting on October 23, counting on October 27
Bengaluru: The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the biennial elections to two graduates' and two teachers' constituencies of the Karnataka Legislative Council. Polling will be held on October 23 and counting of votes will take place on October 27.
The Election Commission of India announced the schedule on Tuesday for elections to teachers' and graduates' constituencies in various Legislative Councils across the country.
The Model Code of Conduct came into effect from Tuesday (September 22) in the areas covered by these four constituencies.
The terms of the four constituencies will end on November 11. At present, the Karnataka South-East Graduates' Constituency is represented by BJP's M Chidanand Gowda, the West Graduates' Constituency by BJP's S V Sankanur, the North-East Teachers' Constituency by BJP's Shashil Namoshi and the Bengaluru Teachers' Constituency by Congress's Puttanna.
