Karnataka to support training for priests serving 34,000 rural temples: D K Shivakumar

Bengaluru: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Wednesday said the Karnataka government would support a three-month training programme for priests serving in 34,000 temples across rural areas of the state.

He said mutts and priests' associations should come forward to organise training programmes focusing on religious rituals, traditions and temple practices, while assuring the government's full cooperation for the initiative.

Shivakumar was speaking after inaugurating the state-level convention of priests, Agamikas and temple staff organised by the Karnataka State Muzrai Temples Priests, Agamikas and Employees Association at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan in Vasanth Nagar. The event also included a felicitation programme for Minister Ramalinga Reddy.
