'Learn Hindi or leave jobs': Bengaluru Zomato warehouse manager booked for threatening Kannada-speaking staff
BENGALURU: A 31-year-old shift manager at a Zomato-rented warehouse near Nelamangala was booked for allegedly telling Kannada-speaking workers to learn Hindi or leave their jobs.
Ashok Muttayy, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, worked as a shift manager at the warehouse in Madanayakanahalli.
According to police, a video surfaced on social media showing Ashok speaking to workers in Hindi during an official interaction. When a worker asked him to speak in Kannada , Ashok allegedly refused and told the workers to learn Hindi or leave their jobs.

Soon after, a group of pro-Kannada activists gathered outside the warehouse and demanded action against Ashok.
“We registered a suo motu case and filed a petition against Ashok for his act. Ashok later apologised for his conduct,” an investigating officer told TOI.
