Locals attack family over alleged kidnap in Bengaluru, 6 injured
Bengaluru: High drama unfolded on Magadi Road Wednesday night after a group of locals allegedly thrashed several men and damaged their car, suspecting they were trying to kidnap a young woman. Six persons, including a nine-year-old girl, sustained injuries in the commotion.
However, the alleged kidnapping took a dramatic turn when the woman intervened and told the crowd that the men were her own family members , including her father, who had come from Rajasthan to take her back home.

Speaking to police who arrived at the spot, the woman said she had married a man from another caste despite her family’s opposition. She alleged that her family had recently traced her to Bengaluru and was trying to force her to return to Rajasthan. “I’ve married a man from another caste and my family was against it. Recently, we came here and my family somehow followed me,” she told police.
A senior police officer said the woman was being requested to lodge a complaint against her family so that action could be taken.
Meanwhile, the family’s vehicle was badly damaged after the crowd attacked it. The family members allegedly tried to flee the spot, ramming into other vehicles in the process, officials added.
Of those injured, one woman with serious head injuries has been shifted to the ICU of a nearby private hospital, police added. Cops said they are yet to register a case. Suspects have been detained and the car used in the “kidnapping” seized, police said.
