Major UK high street brand plunges into administration as 21 branches closed - full list
A huge 21 venues operated by the Revolution bar chain have closed across the country with immediate effect, resulting in the loss of 591 jobs after the company entered administration - but has your local been affected? The Revel Collective, which also owns Revolucion de Cuba and Peach Pubs, announced in October that it had put the business up for sale amid what it described as a prolonged period of external challenges.
Of its 62 pubs and bars across the UK, 14 Revolution venues, six Revolucion de Cuba bars and one Peach Pub have now shut. Administrators FTI Consulting said two separate deals have been agreed that will secure the future of 41 sites and protect 1,582 jobs.
FTI said the Revolution and Revolucion de Cuba brands and assets had been bought by the bar and club owner Neos Hospitality Group. The remaining Peach Pubs business has been bought by the new Coral Pub Company.
The Revel Collective said on Monday that talks with a potential buyer were "well advanced", but confirmed it had filed for administration, meaning shareholders are expected to receive nothing from the sale.
When the company put itself up for sale last autumn, it cited tough economic conditions and measures announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves in Labour's first Budget since taking office in 2024.
Revel Collective also hit out at Labour's decision to increase duties on spirits, which it said will cost more than £4m each year across the group.
The group carried out a significant restructuring in 2024, shutting 15 loss-making bars in an effort to improve its performance.
However, the turnaround plans stalled, prompting the launch of a strategic review last autumn to explore new funding options and the possible sale of all or parts of the business.
Company bosses have previously warned that sales were below expectations, as younger customers cut back on spending.
