Man killed in wall collapse at Manamadurai

Sivaganga: A 57-year-old construction worker was killed after a wall collapsed on him while he was engaged in demolition work at a house in Manamadurai in Sivaganga district on Wednesday.

Police identified the deceased as Karuppiah of Annavasal village near Manamadurai. Karuppiah was pulling down an old structure at the house of Chandru on Alagar Kovil Street when the incident took place, police said.

Trapped under the debris, Karuppiah suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot, police added.

Fire and rescue services personnel recovered the body from the rubble. Police sent the body to the Sivaganga Govt Medical College Hospital for autopsy. They registered a case and are investigating.
