Mangaluru-Kuwait direct flight likely to resume in October

Mangaluru: The direct flight service between Mangaluru and Kuwait, which has been suspended for the past six months due to the war, is likely to resume soon.

According to reports, Air India Express is planning to restart direct flights between Mangaluru and Kuwait in the last week of October as part of its winter schedule.

As per the available information, Air India Express is expected to operate flights between Mangaluru and Kuwait three times a week from October 27 — on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

After the Iran-Israel and US war began on February 28, air connectivity with Gulf countries was largely disrupted. However, as the intensity of the conflict reduced, flights to most countries resumed. The Mangaluru-Kuwait service, however, has not yet resumed. Before the war, Air India Express operated three flights a week between Kuwait and Mangaluru.

During the conflict, Kuwait airport was damaged in a missile attack. Although repairs were carried out, until recently only Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways were operating flights there. Foreign airlines are now gradually resuming their services.
