2026 is set to be a banger year for video games with Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced capturing the hearts of gamers as well as their wallets - and the big money maker of GTA 6 isn't even here for another six months.

While those games are thought to have sold millions of copies already, it's nothing compared to what's likely the best selling video game of the year so far, and if you've not spent a lot of time online recently, you've probably not heard of it.

Meccha Chameleon launched exclusively on PC via Steam on June 10, 2026, and in the month since then, it's sold over 15 million copies.

The concept is pretty simple, but marvelously executed. It's a twist on the popular hide and seek game 'Prop Hunt' that proved popular in custom Call of Duty and Garry's Mod lobbies back in the day, but developer lemorion_1224 has given it a fantastic twist.

Instead of taking on the form of random objects within the world, you play as a figure made of white clay and it's your job to manually paint yourself into the surroundings to disguise yourself from the hunters.

"Spot, pose, and "artistic skill" are keys to survival," the game's description on Steam reads.

This cat and mouse gameplay is not only hilarious to engage with among mates, but it's also delightfully funny to watch, too. Over on Twitch, the game peaked at 239,084 viewers towards the end of June.
