Mother, daughter killed after car crashes into divider near Kunigal

Kunigal: A woman and her daughter were killed after the car they were travelling in crashed into a road divider and overturned near Urkehalli on National Highway-75 B.M. Road in Kunigal on Monday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Jayamala and Rajeshwari, natives of Raichur. Rajeshwari’s son Preetham and her brother Maruthi were injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in the town.

According to police, Rajeshwari was travelling from Tumakuru to a school near Shravanabelagola to get her son Preetham admitted to Class 6. During the journey, the driver reportedly lost control of the car, causing it to hit the divider and overturn.

Kunigal Circle Inspector Madyanayk visited the accident spot, conducted an inspection, and has taken up further investigation.
