Over 150 vehicles detained for suspected GST violations: Cheema
Chandigarh: The Punjab excise and taxation department has detained 152 vehicles carrying goods worth Rs 4.5 crore on suspicion of GST violations , finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema said.
“The govt is keeping an eye on the industrial arteries of Mandi Gobindgarh and Khanna , signalling a zero-tolerance approach to revenue leakage. The newly detained fleet of 152 vehicles is primarily hauling iron scrap and finished steel goods . Tax officers are currently combing invoices, e-way bills and transit documents to catch any sleight of hand,” Cheema said.
He added that applicable taxes and heavy penalties would be imposed on offenders.
