Patna: Divisional commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar on Thursday chaired a eview meeting on traffic management and the anti-encroachment campaign, directing the administrative machinery to move into action mode to make Patna jam-free, safe and systematic.

He asked the SP (traffic) to ensure that all old vehicles and roadside vehicle repair garages are closed and removed by Nov 30 with no such activity allowed after Dec 1. Similarly, vehicles kept for sale in various parking areas must be identified and removed by the same Dec 1 deadline.

The district transport officer, Patna, was directed to compile a detailed list, with night-time videography, of all vehicles parked on the roadside – whether private, govt, or abandoned. Parashar emphasised that any vehicle found parked illegally after Dec 1 will be confiscated, and its owner will face strict legal action.

The administration is also focused on long-term solutions, including the closure of unnecessary road cuts, construction of zebra crossings, and regulation of auto and e-rickshaw traffic under prescribed rules. Ongoing projects include the construction of escalator-equipped foot overbridges and underpasses, road widening, and the rapid development of the metro network.

The meeting was attended by the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police, municipal commissioner and other key officials.
