Preliminary examination of the mobile phones and laptop seized from the accused revealed visuals with child pornography content. It is in this context that Pocso was imposed against both.

Scientific examination of the digital devices is progressing. More information about the secret Telegram group led by both the students, the obscene video racket, and the groups that used to transfer and sell the visuals will be obtained.

The Kilimanoor native, who was arrested on Sept 3, is being questioned in detail. The second student, who is on remand, will be taken into custody soon.

The information the police received during the questioning was that the racket was operating by forming premium paid groups .

According to the police, images and visuals captured, including from campuses, would be morphed into obscene videos. These would then be posted in a promotion group of which many are members. They would be informed that videos containing more obscene content are uploaded in premium groups and could be viewed by those who pay for them.

An amount ranging from Rs 250 was charged for entering and taking membership in premium groups. There are 15 to 20 people in a single group, while there are up to 1,500 people in the promotion group. The promotion group is for bringing more people into the paid groups by sharing morphed images, the police said.

The investigation team has found that there are many small and large groups in the paid and promotion categories. With two accused being caught, many groups have disappeared. The police team is being recovered with the help of cyber experts . The investigation is also being conducted focusing on the financial transactions of the accused.
