NEW DELHI: Rajesh Kumar Yabaji , co-founder and CEO of BlackBuck , a Bengaluru-based digital trucking platform that connects shippers with truckers across India, known for transforming freight logistics through technology, has announced the company will move out of its Bellandur office after nine years, citing poor roads and long commutes for employees.

Highlighting the traffic woes, Yabaji added: “Roads full of potholes and dust, coupled with the lowest intent to get them rectified. Did not see any of this changing in the next five years.”

On X, he wrote: “ORR (Bellandur) has been our ‘office + home’ for the last 9 years. But it’s now very-very hard to continue here,” posting a broken-heart emoji.

Employees reportedly faced commutes of more than 90 minutes one way on roads described by Yabaji as resembling the surface of the moon. Bellandur, one of Bengaluru’s earliest IT hubs, is notorious for potholes, traffic congestion, clogged drains and crumbling infrastructure, despite being the city’s highest revenue-generating area.

The ORR stretch between Silk Board and KR Puram houses over 500 companies and nearly a million commuters daily. Traffic along the corridor has increased by 45% compared with last year, putting further strain on the infrastructure.

The announcement drew reactions from industry and politics. Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai called it a “big failure of governance in Bengaluru,” while BJP state president B Y Vijayendra warned that poor infrastructure could drive away talent and investment. Many netizens praised Yabaji for prioritising employee welfare, though some criticised local representatives for inaction.

Through this move, Yabaji has highlighted the impact of urban infrastructure on business operations and emphasised the need for better city planning and maintenance, reinforcing his profile as a tech entrepreneur committed to employee well-being.
