Woman found charred to death in Patna house, son held
Patna : A 60-year-old woman was found charred to death inside a rented house in Dulli Ghat area of Diwan Mohalla under Khajekalan police station in Patna City on Sunday with police suspecting her son had set her on fire following an argument. The deceased was identified as Rekha Devi alias Manju Devi, wife of late Nanhki Sahni.
Police said she lived in the rented accommodation with her son, Chintu Kumar . The incident came to light after landlord Basant Rai and neighbours noticed the body and informed police.

A team from Khajekalan police station reached the spot and sent the body to NMCH-Patna for post-mortem examination. A Forensic Science Laboratory team also collected samples and other evidence.
Patna City SDPO Raj Kishore Singh said Chintu was a drug addict and had argued with his mother while under the influence of intoxicants. “It is suspected that he had subsequently set his mother on fire. The police conducted raid and Chintu was taken into custody and he is being questioned about the circumstances leading to his mother’s death,” he said.
The SDPO added, “The police were examining the available evidence and questioning the accused to establish the sequence of events and his exact role in the woman’s death. All aspects of the case were being investigated.”
