Born without his left hand, this NIT graduate is now an SDE II at Amazon earning over Rs 50 lakh a year

Sai Bharath was born without his left hand. In the three years since he completed his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal in 2023, he has become a Software Development Engineer (SDE) II at Amazon , with a reported salary of more than 50 lakh per annum (LPA).

His LinkedIn profile shows that the SDE-II role began in October 2026, about two years and nine months after he joined the company as a Software Engineer in January 2024.

Working on Amazon Pay
In his current role, Bharath works on Amazon Pay. According to his profile, the project involves presenting Amazon Pay as a new application of its own rather than as an app within the Amazon shopping application. He lists software design as the skill attached to the role.

The position is based in Hyderabad, Telangana.

From NIT Warangal to the first job
Bharath studied at NIT Warangal from 2019 to 2023. His first full-time job came before Amazon. From July to November 2023, he worked as a Software Engineer in Hyderabad. His profile says he worked as a backend developer there, configuring application programming interfaces (APIs), building connectors and working on Java backend development using object-oriented programming (OOP).

He joined Amazon in January 2024, a month after leaving .

Internships before graduation
Amazon was also where Bharath did his first internship. From May to July 2022, he worked as an SDE intern in Chennai. His profile says he automated internal tasks for his team using extensions, JavaScript and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

From December 2022 to February 2023, he worked remotely as a backend developer intern. The work involved AWS services, used to handle data received from the frontend.

Between October 2020 and May 2023, Bharath served as Secretary of the Computer Science Engineering Association (CSEA) at NIT Warangal. He describes the role as a chance to take part in events and to organise them.
