CPRI recruitment 2026: Registration begins for various posts; check eligibility, selection process and key details
The Central Power Research Institute ( CPRI ) has started the online registration process for recruitment to 110 posts. Eligible Indian nationals can apply for Engineering Officer, Engineering Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Technician, Technical Attendant, Assistant and Multi-Tasking Staff posts.
The registration process started on September 19, 2026, at 10 am and will close on October 12, 2026, at 5 pm. Candidates can submit their applications through the official CPRI website at cpri.res.in.
CPRI is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Power. The institute works in research and development related to electricity generation, transmission, distribution and power systems. Its head office is in Bengaluru, with units in Bhopal, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Nashik, Noida, Kolkata, Guwahati and Raipur.

A total of 110 vacancies are available across different posts.
The institute has said that the number of vacancies is provisional. CPRI can increase or decrease the vacancies, change the notified branches or modify the reservation depending on its requirements and availability of suitable candidates.
CPRI recruitment 2026: Who can apply?
The eligibility requirements vary by post.
For Engineering Officer Grade 1, candidates need a first-class Bachelor's degree in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognised university. Candidates applying for the Electrical and Civil posts must also have a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the relevant paper. The maximum age is 30 years.
For Scientific Assistant, candidates need a first-class B.Sc. in Chemistry and five years of relevant experience. The maximum age is 35 years.
For Engineering Assistant, candidates need a first-class three-year diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Technology, along with five years of relevant experience. The maximum age is 35 years.
For Technician Grade 1, an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) trade certificate in Electrical or Mechanical is required. The maximum age is 28 years.
For Technical Attendant Grade 1, candidates must have passed matriculation or an equivalent examination. An ITI certificate of a two-year course in Electrical or Mechanical is desirable. The maximum age is 30 years.
For Assistant Grade II, candidates need a first-class BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, BBM or BCA degree and a minimum Grade-B certificate in the Basic Computer Course conducted by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). The maximum age is 30 years.
For Multi-Tasking Staff Grade 1, candidates must have passed matriculation or an equivalent examination. All these posts are reserved for Ex-servicemen. The maximum age is 25 years.
The cut-off date for age, educational qualifications and other eligibility conditions is October 12, 2026. Age relaxation will be available as per Government of India norms.

The pay scale and selection process depend on the post.
The pay scales are based on the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix.
CPRI has also said that the probation period for all posts will initially be two years. Selected candidates will receive service benefits such as leave, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), medical benefits and applicable allowances as per Government of India norms.

Candidates have to pay the application fee based on the post they are applying for.
Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-servicemen and women candidates are exempted from paying the application fee. Bank transaction or processing charges, if applicable, have to be paid by the candidate.

Candidates should keep a valid email ID and mobile number ready before starting the registration. They will also need a recent passport-size colour photograph and scanned signature.
Depending on the post and category, candidates may also have to upload scanned copies of their matriculation certificate, degree, diploma, ITI certificate, marksheets, experience certificate, BCC certificate, category certificate, No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Ex-servicemen documents.
The photograph should not be more than three months old. The signature should be scanned in black ink against a white background and must be clearly visible.
