The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a 20% reservation for former Agniveers in uniformed roles such as Police Constable, Special Armed Force, Jail Guard, Forest Guard, and Excise Constable. Provisions have been made for a 10% reservation for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for former Agniveers in the Police Constable and Special Armed Force categories. For Jail Guard and Forest Guard recruitment, the reservation quota will be 15% for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for former Agniveers. A 20% reservation has also been fixed for former Agniveers in Excise Constable posts.

**Exemption from Written Exam for the First Batch in Maharashtra**

The Maharashtra government has also announced relief measures for the first batch of Agniveers who will complete their four-year service between November 2026 and January 2027. There is a plan to directly absorb them into the Maharashtra Police, State Reserve Police Force, and Firefighting Services. Eligible Agniveers will be exempted from the new written examination and granted a four-year relaxation in the age limit. Special posts may also be created for them if necessary. This means that the first batch of discharged Agniveers will not be required to take the general written examination again for recruitment into these services.

**Over 19,000 Agniveers to be discharged by January 2027**

Under the Agnipath scheme, the service tenure for Agniveers in the armed forces is four years. The scheme offers 25 percent of Agniveers the opportunity to continue serving in the armed forces, while the remaining 75 percent are discharged after four years. The first batch, comprising over 19,000 Agniveers, is set to be discharged by January 2027. The Central and various state governments have made provisions for reservations in government jobs and other benefits for them.

**Reservation in Central Government jobs as well**

The Central Government has also earmarked opportunities for former Agniveers across several departments. A provision has been made for a 50 percent reservation for former Agniveers in Constable and Rifleman posts within the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and Assam Rifles. For these recruitments, they are exempted from the written examination as well as physical standards and physical efficiency tests. Additionally, Indian Railways has provided for a 5 percent horizontal reservation in Group-2 and higher-level posts, and a 10 percent horizontal reservation in Group-1 posts, for former Agniveers.
