Free Tablets for Students in Uttarakhand: Here's How to Avail the Benefit

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that the government will provide financial assistance to students in these classes to purchase tablets. Funds will be transferred directly to the students' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The state government has made a major announcement for students studying in Classes 10 and 12 in government schools across Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that students in these classes would receive financial aid from the government to buy tablets. Funds for this purpose will be sent directly to the students' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT); essentially, the government will transfer the money directly to facilitate the purchase of tablets. The Chief Minister made this announcement during the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan' program, where 140 selected students from across the state interacted directly with him.

Which students will benefit from the tablet scheme?

According to the government's announcement, students studying in Classes 10 and 12 in Uttarakhand's government schools will be provided funds via DBT to purchase tablets. Under this scheme, students will receive direct financial assistance for this purpose. The objective is to enhance students' access to digital resources for their studies, enabling them to utilize new opportunities related to technology and knowledge.

Students submitted over 2.67 lakh suggestions

There was significant participation from students across the state in the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Manthan' campaign. According to the Chief Minister, 2,67,744 students shared essays, ideas, and suggestions as part of the campaign. Students who presented the best ideas were selected for the final phase of the program. The Chief Minister interacted with the 140 selected students and sought their views on the future of Uttarakhand.

How can one avail the benefits of the scheme?

The government will not provide the tablets directly to the students; instead, it has announced that funds will be provided via DBT for the purchase. Students will then be able to use these funds to buy the tablets. However, the government has not yet issued a notification regarding the registration process.

Students Share Views on Issues Ranging from Education to Employment

During the campaign, students did not limit themselves to academic issues alone; they offered suggestions on a wide range of topics, including education, health, tourism, roads, forestry and the environment, sports, migration, self-employment, and startups. Additionally, they shared ideas on creating new employment opportunities within villages. The Chief Minister stated that efforts would be made to incorporate the useful and practical suggestions received from the youth into the government's policy and planning processes.

Scholarships for Outstanding Suggestions

A provision for scholarships has also been announced for students who offer valuable suggestions during the campaign. Such students will receive a scholarship of up to ₹2 lakh to support their career launch, exam preparation, and coaching after completing Class 12. Appreciating the students' ideas, the Chief Minister remarked that the mindset and innovative thoughts of the youth could play a pivotal role in shaping Uttarakhand's future. He also referred to the students as "IN-G" (Indian Generation).
