IndiGo revises ancillary service charges: Infant travel, excess baggage and priority services to cost more
IndiGo has revised charges for several ancillary services, increasing the amount passengers will have to pay for infant travel, excess baggage, unaccompanied minor assistance, priority check-in and boarding, and travel certificates, according to media reports.
The changes cover services passengers can opt for in addition to their base airfare and include higher charges on both domestic and international services.
Infant travel, unaccompanied minor charges revised
The fee for infant travel has been increased to ₹3,000 from ₹2,000. This represents a ₹1,000 increase in the charge. The fee applies to infants travelling between three days and two years of age. Infants do not get a separate seat under the arrangement, but passengers are required to book a ticket for them.

IndiGo has also raised the charge for its unaccompanied minor service on domestic flights to ₹5,999 from ₹5,000. The service is available for children travelling without an accompanying adult, subject to the airline's applicable conditions. For international flights, the unaccompanied minor service is priced at ₹12,999.
Excess baggage, priority check-in become costlier
The charge for excess baggage on domestic flights has been increased to ₹800 per kg from ₹700. This means passengers carrying luggage above their permitted baggage allowance will pay ₹100 more for every additional kilogram. For example, five kg of excess baggage would cost ₹4,000 under the revised charge, compared with ₹3,500 earlier.

IndiGo has also revised the charge for its Fast Forward service, which provides priority check-in and boarding. The domestic airport charge has gone up to ₹650 from ₹450, while the charge for international flights is ₹850 per sector.
The airline has also increased the fee for a travel certificate to ₹300 from ₹200. IndiGo describes the travel certificate as proof of travel and says it can be used for purposes such as reimbursement, GST and leave travel concession claims.
The revised charges are part of changes to IndiGo's ancillary services, which cover optional services and facilities passengers can purchase in addition to their flight fare. Media reports said the airline's latest revision is part of its routine process of reviewing and updating charges for such services.
