SSC CGL 2026 Tier 1 exam dates announced: Check schedule, exam pattern and admit card details
The Staff Selection Commission ( SSC ) has announced the exam dates for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2026 Tier 1 examination. As per the schedule, the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be held from September 30 to October 30, 2026.
The examination will be conducted in the computer-based test (CBT) mode.
The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is being held for recruitment to various Group B and Group C posts in government ministries, departments and organisations. The recruitment includes posts such as Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Sub Inspector, Auditor, Accountant and Tax Assistant.
A total of 12,256 vacancies have been announced for SSC CGL 2026.
SSC CGL 2026 Tier 1 exam pattern
The Tier 1 question paper will have 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 200 marks.
Candidates will get one hour to complete the Tier 1 examination. The paper will have a 15-minute sectional timer for each subject.
Eligible candidates can get extended time as per SSC rules.
The examination will also have negative marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer. The question paper will be available in English and Hindi, except for the English Comprehension section.

The SSC CGL Tier 1 admit card is expected to be released 10 to 15 days before the examination. Candidates will be able to download their hall tickets from the official SSC website using their login credentials.
The admit card will contain important details such as the exam date, reporting time, exam centre and candidate information.
Candidates should check all the details on the admit card carefully. They should also carry a valid photo ID proof along with the admit card to the examination centre.
