Jaipur, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : A 23-year-old MBA student tragically lost her life after falling from the sixth floor of Purnima University in Jaipur on Saturday. The student, identified as Yashasvi Rohilla, was in her second year and had recently secured a job. Preliminary reports indicate that Yashasvi, a resident of Prem Nagar in the Gurjar Ki Thadi area of Jaipur, was happily conversing with her classmates shortly before the incident.
She reportedly left the classroom under the pretext of going to the restroom, made a phone call, and later headed to the roof, leaving her mobile phone behind in class. Some students saw her on the roof and rushed to stop her, but they were unable to reach her in time, and she fell from the building. University staff quickly transported her to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Shivdaspura police have taken possession of her bag and mobile phone as part of their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Her body has been placed in the hospital's mortuary. Rahil Sindhi, the managing director of Purnima University, stated that Yashasvi was an exceptional student and had just landed a job. He confirmed that university staff had acted promptly to get her to the hospital. Following the incident, the scheduled mid-term examinations have been postponed. Family members gathered at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital have expressed concerns about the university's safety measures, questioning how a student could access the roof and arguing that more security personnel should have been deployed.
The family has referenced previous safety guidelines issued by the government after an incident at Neerja Modi School and is demanding accountability from the university administration. They have not yet filed a formal complaint. Police have indicated that further action will be taken once a complaint is received. According to family sources, Yashasvi's father has passed away, and her mother, Durga Devi, is financing her education. Durga works in the statistics department at the Rajasthan Secretariat, while her brother Shubham is a lawyer.
Relatives reported that the news has devastated Yashasvi's mother, who was initially taken to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital but later returned home due to her deteriorating condition. The police have stated that the exact circumstances and reasons for the incident are still unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
