UP Special TET 2026 registration ends tomorrow: Check eligibility, application fee and OTR details

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission ( UPESSC ) will close the UP Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) 2026 registration process tomorrow, October 4. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied can complete the online application through the official UPESSC website.

The commission released the notification under Advertisement No. 03/2026 on September 3. The registration process started on September 5.

The UP Special TET is a state-level eligibility exam for teaching positions at the primary and upper primary levels in government and government-aided schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Candidates can apply for Paper I for Classes 1 to 5 or Paper II for Classes 6 to 8, depending on their educational qualifications.

UP Special TET 2026 : Eligibility
For Paper I, candidates can apply if they meet the prescribed qualifications, including Senior Secondary with the required marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education is also accepted. Candidates with graduation and at least 50% marks along with B.Ed can also apply as per the notification.

For Paper II, eligible qualifications include graduation with at least 50% marks along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed. Candidates with Senior Secondary and a four-year B.El.Ed, or graduation with at least 50% marks and a one-year B.Ed in Special Education, can also apply.

Candidates should check the detailed notification for the qualification applicable to the paper they wish to take.

UP Special TET 2026: One Time Registration and fee
Candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) before applying for the Special TET. Those who already have an OTR can use their existing credentials.

The application fee is:

  • General, OBC and EWS: Rs 1,000
  • SC and ST: Rs 500
  • PwD: Rs 300

UP Special TET 2026 exam pattern
Both Paper I and Paper II will have 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 150 marks. The exam duration will be two hours and 30 minutes.

There will be no negative marking.

Paper I will include:

  • Child Development and Teaching Methodology: 30 questions
  • Hindi: 30 questions
  • English/Urdu/Sanskrit: 30 questions
  • Mathematics: 30 questions
  • Environmental Studies: 30 questions
Paper II will include 30 questions each from the first three subjects, followed by 60 questions from either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science.

The general qualifying benchmark is 60%, with relaxation applicable to reserved categories as per the rules.

UP Special TET 2026 admit card and exam date
The UP Special TET 2026 admit card is scheduled to be released on November 1. The examination will be held on November 3, 2026.

Candidates who have not yet submitted their applications should complete the registration by October 4. The correction facility will be available on October 8.
