5 Anime Demons Who Are Far Stronger Than Demon Slayer’s Kokushibo

Kokushibo stands among the most formidable villains in Demon Slayer. As Upper Rank One of the Twelve Kizuki, he combines centuries of combat experience with Moon Breathing, exceptional swordsmanship and powerful regeneration. Even the most skilled Demon Slayers struggle against his speed and overwhelming techniques.

However, Kokushibo's strength becomes less extraordinary when compared with demons from other anime universes. Some possess magical abilities that can bypass physical defences, while others command destructive powers far beyond conventional sword combat. Their abilities vary considerably, but each presents a challenge that Kokushibo would struggle to overcome. Here are five anime demons who could defeat Demon Slayer's Upper Rank One.

1. Anos Voldigoad Can Destroy the Rules of Reality

In The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Anos Voldigoad possesses extraordinary magical abilities that make conventional combat almost irrelevant. One of his most dangerous weapons is Venuzdonoa, the Abolisher of Reason, which can destroy the laws and principles governing the world.

Kokushibo relies heavily on his swordsmanship, Moon Breathing techniques and ability to regenerate from devastating injuries. These abilities make him exceptionally difficult to defeat within Demon Slayer, but they offer limited protection against an opponent who can bypass conventional rules of combat.

Anos also possesses powerful resurrection abilities, making it difficult to eliminate him permanently. Even if Kokushibo managed to land a successful strike, that would not necessarily end the battle.

The difference lies in the scale of their powers. While Kokushibo excels in physical combat, Anos can use destructive magic to overwhelm opponents without relying on a prolonged sword fight. Against such an opponent, Kokushibo's centuries of experience would be unlikely to change the outcome.

2. Meliodas Combines Demonic Strength With Full Counter

Meliodas, the Dragon Sin of Wrath from The Seven Deadly Sins, is a dangerous opponent even before he unleashes his full demonic power. His Assault Mode transformation significantly increases his strength, speed and dark magical abilities.

Like Kokushibo, Meliodas can recover from severe injuries. However, his combat abilities extend beyond regeneration, allowing him to challenge some of the strongest beings in his universe, including the Demon King.

One of his most recognisable techniques is Full Counter, which reflects magical attacks towards their original source. Although this ability does not automatically counter ordinary physical sword strikes, it can make magical attacks a risky strategy against him.

Kokushibo's Moon Breathing gives him an advantage in close-range sword combat, but Meliodas possesses considerably more options. His physical strength, demonic transformations and extensive battle experience would make it difficult for Kokushibo to control the fight.

Meliodas' ability to confront powerful supernatural enemies places him in a different league from the Upper Rank One demon.

3. Dabura Could Turn Kokushibo to Stone

Dragon Ball Z introduces Dabura, the King of the Demon Realm, during the Majin Buu Saga. His strength is considerable, with Goku comparing him to Cell, one of the most dangerous opponents the Z Fighters had faced.

That comparison highlights the gap between Dabura and Kokushibo. While the Demon Slayer villain is an exceptional swordsman, the physical power demonstrated by characters in Dragon Ball Z operates on a much larger scale.

Dabura also possesses an unusual ability that could make the battle especially difficult for Kokushibo. His saliva can turn living targets to stone, providing a way to incapacitate an opponent without relying on conventional physical damage.

Kokushibo's regeneration is effective against many forms of injury, but petrification presents a different kind of threat. Dabura can also use fire attacks, dark magic and his own swordsmanship, giving him several ways to attack.

With his superior physical power and ability to petrify opponents, Dabura would have a significant advantage over Kokushibo.

4. Diablo Has Magic That Goes Beyond Physical Combat

In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Diablo is known as Noir, the Black Primordial, one of the seven original demons. His existence spans thousands of years, giving him extensive experience with magic and supernatural combat.

Diablo's strength does not depend on a single technique. He can combine advanced magic with defensive barriers, dimensional abilities and skills that help him analyse opponents. This flexibility would make it difficult for Kokushibo to rely on the close-range sword fighting at which he excels.

After evolving into a Devil Lord, Diablo gains the Ultimate Skill Azazel, Lord of Temptation. Its abilities include dimensional control and powerful defensive capabilities, expanding his options in battle.

Kokushibo's speed, regeneration and Moon Breathing make him a dangerous opponent against another swordsman. Diablo, however, can approach a fight from several directions, using magic and defensive abilities rather than engaging exclusively in physical combat.

That difference could prove decisive. Diablo's varied supernatural powers give him multiple ways to challenge Kokushibo while limiting the effectiveness of the Upper Rank One's preferred fighting style.

5. Naraku Uses Poison and Deception to Control Battles

Naraku from Inuyasha presents a different kind of threat. Originally a human bandit named Onigumo, he merges with numerous demons to become a powerful half-demon with an adaptable body and a collection of dangerous abilities.

One of his most effective weapons is his poisonous miasma, which can corrode flesh and make approaching him hazardous. He also uses poisonous insects known as Saimyosho, adding another layer of danger for anyone attempting to attack at close range.

This creates a problem for Kokushibo, whose combat style depends heavily on getting close enough to use his sword techniques effectively. Naraku can make that approach costly before the fight even develops.

He is also difficult to eliminate because of his changing body, deceptive tactics and ability to create separate incarnations, including Kagura and Kanna. These extensions of himself complicate attempts to locate and defeat him directly.

Unlike Kokushibo, who primarily serves Muzan and confronts enemies through direct combat, Naraku frequently manipulates events from the shadows. His poisonous attacks, adaptability and willingness to use deception could give him a strategic advantage.

Why Kokushibo Is Not the Strongest Demon in Anime

Kokushibo remains one of Demon Slayer's most formidable antagonists, combining exceptional swordsmanship, regeneration and centuries of combat experience. However, comparing characters across different anime universes reveals how widely supernatural power can vary.

Anos Voldigoad can destroy the principles governing reality, Meliodas combines demonic strength with powerful counterattacks, and Dabura possesses both overwhelming physical power and petrification. Diablo offers an extensive range of magical abilities, while Naraku relies on poison, adaptability and deception.

The outcome of any crossover battle depends on how each universe's abilities interact. Nevertheless, these five demons possess powers that could give Kokushibo serious trouble, demonstrating that being Upper Rank One does not automatically make him the strongest demon across anime.
