Hospital Updates on Mithun Chakraborty's Health: 'Quite stable', Pre-Discharge Investigations Scheduled
Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty's health has shown improvement, and he is described as "quite stable," according to an official quoted by news agency PTI on Sunday. The 73-year-old was hospitalized in Kolkata on Saturday after experiencing severe chest pain.

"He is recuperating well, is fully conscious, well-oriented, active, and has consumed a soft diet. He will undergo certain investigations before his discharge," the official of the medical facility told PTI. The actor has already had an MRI, as well as other medical tests, at the hospital.
On Sunday, the news agency ANI released a video showing the actor in a hospital setting. In the footage, Mithun was seen seated on his bed in the hospital room. A doctor spoke to him in Hindi, , "Ab theek hai, saline chal raha hai, paani aap adequate peerahe hai. Bas peete rahiye (Now it's ok, drip is continuing, you're drinking adequate water, keep drinking..." Mithun then gestured towards his feet and made a comment. Additionally, Sukanta Majumdar, the West Bengal BJP chief, visited Mithun on Sunday.
Mithun had Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke)
The hospital has officially announced that Mithun has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) affecting his brain. According to the statement, the actor was admitted to the hospital after experiencing weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. The official statement read, "Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs."
It also read, "Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out including an MRI of the brain. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented and has consumed soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors including a neuro-physician, cardiologist and a gastroenterologist."

He kicked off his acting journey with the Mrinal Sen-directed film "Mrigayaa," which earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Among his notable films are "Disco Dancer," "Agneepath," "Ghar Ek Mandir," "Jallad," and "Pyaar Jhukta Nahin." On March 7, 2021, Mithun joined the BJP party in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground.
