Veteran star Kamal Haasan’s remuneration for the blockbuster film Kalki 2898 AD has sparked fresh discussion after filmmaker-actor Yugi Sethu revealed details about the actor’s pay for the project. According to Yugi, Haasan was paid approximately $2 million per day during the film’s shoot, a figure that could place him among the highest-paid actors in India.

In a recent interview, Yugi Sethu shared that he initially believed the actor had earned ₹150 crore for about 20 days of shooting. Based on that estimate, he calculated that Haasan was earning nearly $1 million per day. However, after speaking with the film’s producer, C. Aswani Dutt, he realised the actor had reportedly worked only about 10 days on the film. This would effectively double the per-day amount to around $2 million.

Yugi also joked about the revelation, recalling how he thanked the producer for making his friend the highest-paid actor in India. The producer’s clarification about the number of shooting days led him to revise his earlier estimate and arrive at the staggering daily figure.

Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, is a futuristic sci-fi epic that features an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. Kamal Haasan plays the powerful antagonist Supreme Yaskin, a god-like ruler in the dystopian world of the film.

Although Haasan’s screen time in the first instalment is relatively limited, the story hints at a larger role for his character in the upcoming sequel. The film itself turned into a massive global success, becoming one of the biggest Indian releases and grossing over ₹1,100 crore worldwide.

While the exact amount of Haasan’s fee has not been officially confirmed by the makers, Yugi Sethu’s revelation has reignited conversations around actor remuneration in big-budget Indian cinema. If the claim is accurate, the legendary actor’s Kalki 2898 AD paycheck would stand as one of the most remarkable paydays in the industry.
