Witness history comes alive as the most feared & fiercest Prime Minister #IndiraGandhi thunders into cinemas #Emergency in cinemas on 14th June 2024.” Kangana not only took on the lead role but also helmed the directorial responsibilities for the film.

The movie centers on the life of ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, known for declaring a state of emergency in the country in 1975. Anupam Kher plays the role of opposition leader J.P. Narayan, while Shreyas Talpade portrays former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Milind Soman takes on the character of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Originally scheduled for a November release last year, the film's release was postponed. Kangana then announced, “Dear friends, I have an important announcement to make, Emergency movie is the culmination of my entire life’s learnings and earnings as an artist. Emergency is not just a film for me, it’s a test of my worth and character as an individual. The tremendous response that our teaser and other units got from everyone encouraged us all.”
