Vicky Kaushal, Amar Kaushik Not Quitting Alcohol or Non-Veg for Mahavatar, Confirms Filmmaker

Vicky Kaushal is all set to collaborate with Stree director Amar Kaushik for their upcoming magnum opus Mahavatar, based on the life of Chiranjeevu Parashurama. While the project has already generated immense buzz, a recent report claiming that Vicky and Amar had decided to quit alcohol and non-vegetarian food for the film sent the internet into a frenzy. However, the filmmaker has now stepped forward to clear the air.

In a recent interview with Filmygyan, Amar Kaushik firmly dismissed the rumours and urged fans not to believe unverified stories. The director said, “Again, main wohi bol raha hu ki yeh kaha se kuchh bhi cheez nikalti hai. Please bhaiyon. Band karo. Jab hum bolein, tabhi uska vishwaas karo. (Again, I’m saying the same thing. Where do such rumours even come from? Please, stop it. Only believe it when we officially say so).”

Earlier, Bollywood Hungama had quoted a source claiming that the duo had decided to give up non-vegetarian food and start their spiritual preparation for the film with a grand pooja next year. The same report added that while Amar had already made the change, Vicky planned to follow once he completed his upcoming film Love And War. But Kaushik’s latest clarification has put all such speculation to rest.

In a previous conversation with PTI, Amar Kaushik had spoken passionately about Mahavatar, calling it the most meaningful project of his career. “This film is a very big responsibility for me in my career. It has come from God because this character has been with me since childhood. We used to live next to the Parashuram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh and visited it often. This was a ritual at our home, and every visit would fascinate me deeply,” he shared.

The filmmaker also admitted that it took years to shape the story, as its grand scale demanded extensive resources and visual effects. Preparations for the film including costume work and set design are already underway, with filming expected to begin in 2026 once Vicky Kaushal wraps up his current commitments.

Vicky’s first look from Mahavatar, unveiled last year, showcased him as the “eternal warrior of dharma,” setting the tone for what promises to be an epic mythological saga. With Amar Kaushik’s vision and Vicky Kaushal’s powerful presence, Mahavatar is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema.
