Vidya Balan Lodges Complaint Against Impersonator Selling False Bollywood Opportunities for Money
Actress Vidya Balan has recently taken legal action against an unidentified individual for impersonating her on various social media platforms. She filed a complaint with the Khar police, alleging that the perpetrator created fake email, Instagram, and WhatsApp accounts in her name. These accounts were allegedly used to solicit money from individuals in the Bollywood industry under false pretenses of offering work opportunities.
The actress discovered the impersonation after a designer she collaborated with received a WhatsApp message from an unfamiliar number in January. The imposter, posing as Vidya Balan, conveyed interest in collaboration and proposed further discussion if the designer was keen.
The designer promptly reached out to the actress to inform her of someone posing as her who had messaged him. The actress was also notified of similar incidents via email and Instagram by other industry contacts, stated an official from the Khar police, as reported by HT.
The police have responded to the complaint by taking action against the unidentified imposter under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. They are currently conducting further investigation into the matter.
