BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrives in Delhi
New Delhi: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in the national capital on Wednesday to participate in the significant BRICS Foreign Ministers' meeting hosted by India. The two-day meeting (May 14 and 15), taking place amidst the looming shadow of war in West Asia, has sparked intense interest in diplomatic circles. India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will preside over the meeting.
Arrival on 'Minab-168
' Araghchi arrived in Delhi on a special Iranian aircraft named 'Minab-168' (Minab168). The name of this aircraft is deeply emotional and symbolic for Iran. It was named in memory of 168 schoolgirls who were killed in a missile strike on a school in Minab city during the Iran-Israel conflict. Analysts suggest that Iran is using this platform to voice its protest against attacks on civilians. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal extended a warm welcome to the Iranian Minister, stating on his X (formerly Twitter) account, "A warm welcome to the Iranian Foreign Minister arriving for the BRICS meeting."
