Chhattisgarh Police Arrest Drug Smuggler with 10 Kilograms of Cannabis

Mahasamund, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Anti-Narcotics Task Force in Chhattisgarh has intensified its efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking. In a recent operation, authorities arrested a drug smuggler with 10.36 kilograms of cannabis. The suspect was apprehended in Mahasamund district, following a tip-off. Police conducted routine checks when they received information about a man waiting for a bus near Murmuri village on National Highway 53.The informant indicated that he was carrying a suspicious bag. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement surrounded the area and detained the individual, identified as 42-year-old Prabhat Kumar Bishoi from Odisha. During interrogation, he admitted that the bag contained cannabis intended for transport to Rajasthan from Bhubaneswar. A subsequent search revealed the bag contained 10.36 kilograms of cannabis, valued at approximately ₹518,000. Authorities also seized a mobile phone from the suspect.Following the arrest, police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Bishoi at the Singoda police station and have launched an investigation to identify other individuals involved in the trafficking operation. Officials reiterated their commitment to ongoing anti-drug initiatives. Earlier in August, the Komakhan police in Mahasamund seized 23.27 kilograms of cannabis, arresting one smuggler while another managed to flee. The police confiscated assets worth ₹1.24 million, including a scooter used for transportation and a mobile phone.The arrested suspect, identified as 19-year-old Amit Sahu from Odisha, revealed that they had intended to distribute the cannabis in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
